About CASC

CASC was incorporated in October, 2000 and holds a 501(c)6 tax-exempt status. Our primary governing document is our bylaws; however, various operational policies and procedures are adopted and implemented as needed.

CASC is governed by a Board of Directors that are elected by a majority of the members-at-large to four year terms. They are responsible for initiating action governing the Association's programs and policies; responding to the needs of school counselors throughout California; attending quarterly board meetings among other things.

There are three standing committees according to our bylaws: a Nominations and Elections committee, an Ethics committee, and a Bylaws committee. In addition, CASC has numerous other committees to assist in the work necessary to keep the association and school counseling profession at the forefront of education in California. Some of these committees include:

  • Outreach and Engagement
  • Policy, Advocacy, and Legislation
  • Social Justice and Anti-Racism
  • Policy Governance
  • Technology
  • Awards

CASC is a proud State Division Charter of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
