CASC was incorporated in October, 2000 and holds a 501(c)6 tax-exempt status. Our primary governing document is our bylaws; however, various operational policies and procedures are adopted and implemented as needed.
CASC is governed by a Board of Directors that are elected by a majority of the members-at-large to four year terms. They are responsible for initiating action governing the Association's programs and policies; responding to the needs of school counselors throughout California; attending quarterly board meetings among other things.
There are three standing committees according to our bylaws: a Nominations and Elections committee, an Ethics committee, and a Bylaws committee. In addition, CASC has numerous other committees to assist in the work necessary to keep the association and school counseling profession at the forefront of education in California.
